KANTEEN, a collaboration between fashion brand Khaadi and Desi Gali, has recently been teasing followers on Instagram with its "Coming Soon" posts. It has been reported through multiple sources that it will be reopening in a matter of days with a new outlet in Dolmen Mall Clifton, Karachi.
The eatery was previously launched in mid-2019 with a space inside Khaadi's COM3 store at Bilawal Chowrangi with an enticing menu of desi-fusion food and a vibrant ambience. But the business reportedly suffered due to the restrictions brought on during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 which impacted both retailers and restaurants for the next two years.
In a change of strategy, Khaadi shut the entire store (including Kanteen) in 2021 to relocate to its bigger and better "Experience Hub" in Dolmen Mall Clifton and opened a café inside again, this time it appeared to be a smaller version.
Although Khaadi recently introduced packaged Achaar and Chaat Masala in its store, it is part another initiative called Kreate Your Mark and has nothing to do with the restaurant venture. Going by the latest news, it appears that Khaadi and Desi Gali will be giving the Kanteen concept another shot and this time it will is expected to be an independent setup with its own network of outlets.
